2023: South East elders and stakeholders will come together in intense lobbying to produce the president
Ahead of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, a non-partisan Global Igbo think tank, Nzuko Umunna, is set to unveil a nationwide conversation around the achievement of a Nigerian president from the South East region.
The initiative coined as the Greater Nigerian Conference (GNC) is scheduled to be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Executive Room of the Abuja International Conference Center.
According to a statement by GNC Media Officer, Collins Steve Ugwu, the conference aims to engage Nigerians at all levels such as elders, opinion leaders, politicians, youth and entrepreneurs, from north and south, East and West, for a rational dialogue on the moral value of the South East’s quest for the Nigerian President to come from the area.
The statement read, “As Nigeria’s 2023 presidential elections take center stage among parties, stakeholders and citizens, NzukoUmunna, a global Igbo think tank, is set to unveil a conversation national moving national consensus to persuade Nigerians to see the loyalty of a Nigerian president from the South East region, as the most just national consensus, Nigeria should do to them, especially now, for fairness, justice and l equity are seen as our unifying cornerstone.
“Designed as the Great Nigerian Conference, GNC, the momentous event to be held at the Executive Hall of the Abuja International Conference Center on 25th April 2022 at 11:00 a.m. is intended to bring together Nigerians of all persuasions and of any substance, elders, opinion moulders, politicians, entrepreneurs, young people, north and south, west and east, to a rational dialogue on the moral force of the quest for the Southeast for the Nigerian president of their area.
“The initiative of this consequential conference of the non-partisan foundation for a greater Nigeria is to highlight the need for progressive good governance, equity in diversity and equity through inclusion, in the consciousness of our national policy.
“We are confident that Nigeria is never better ripe for a highly marginalized South East, to earn its desire for the Nigerian presidency through such deliberate sacrifice, as an unwavering reinforcement of our common nation,” the office statement stressed. GNC media.
“We are determined by the eminence of the chief leaders of this conference, in the person of the former Governor of Enugu State, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, and the distinguished Senator Victor Umeh, both former presidents of national parties leader in Nigeria, as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the GNC Organizing Committee respectively, to call on Nigerians to give the South East region the opportunity to write history for one Nigeria.
“Underlining the imperatives that make the event a necessity, the Executive Secretary of Nzuko Umunna, Mr. Ngozi Odumuko, noted that at no time better than now is it better to cast the net of presidential recruitment in the South East , given the inspiring stature of men of proven ability, skill, aptitude and knowledge, eager for fair consideration to serve this country as President, like other regions the have faithfully done without hindrance.
“The Greater Nigeria Conference themed ‘Together We Can’ will build on the strength and determination of all lovers of peace, justice and progress, to work better together, listen to each other more and take action selflessly in a pan-Nigerian spirit to remove the yoke of exclusion from the South East to the highest office of their country.
“The occasion which will bring together all the presidential aspirants from the South East, the Governors of South East and Southern Nigeria will be graced by a special delegation from Ohaneze Ndigbo, South West leaders from Afenifere, Middle Belt Forum, Arewa Consultative Forum, Pan Niger Delta Forum, among others.
“Already, the confirmations of presence and participations of Nigerians in the Diaspora, and within are formidable, in what will be a frank commitment to preach the message of solidarity to all, that the South East region is worthy of their confidence, and ready to serve this country, as president since the unfortunate civil war more than fifty years ago.
